National School Choice Week Celebrated by Arizona Charter Schools

Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) January 22, 2012

National School Choice Week runs January 22-28, celebrating that all students deserve effective and quality education options. Students will have additional choice options as Arizona?s charter authorizer hold its annual meeting on January 23, 2012, to approve new charter contracts to improve student achievement.

In addition to the event at the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools, the Arizona Charter Schools Association and several school choice advocates and organizations are hosting events during the week to showcase the amazing opportunity school choice brings to Arizona?s students. Governor Jan Brewer and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton issued proclamations for the state and city that quality schools are vital to students? futures and economic prosperity.

Arizona?s School Choice Week Kick-Off was held at Edu-Prize in Gilbert on Friday, January 20. It was the first National School Choice Week event in the country. The event celebrated all types of school options, from Gilbert Public School?s honor guard, to homeschooled students leading the National Anthem, to Arizona School for the Art?s jazz band performing before and after the event.
